Common questions about our 3D art and modelling services.

What poly counts do you target for game characters?+
It depends entirely on the platform and engine. Mobile hero characters typically sit at 3k–8k triangles. PC/console mid-tier characters range from 15k–40k. High-end PC/console heroes can go to 80k+ with Nanite or GPU skinning. We agree poly budget targets upfront as a hard deliverable, not a best-effort target, and produce LOD chains to your specification.
Do you handle the full pipeline from concept to engine?+
Yes, concept art through to import-ready engine asset under one roof. That means concept sketches, high-poly sculpt, retopology, UV unwrapping, PBR texturing, rigging, skinning, animation, LOD generation, collision mesh, and engine import testing. You deal with one team and one point of accountability throughout.
What 3D file formats do you deliver?+
FBX is the standard game delivery format and covers 99% of projects. We also deliver OBJ, glTF/GLB for web/mobile, and source files in .blend, .ma, or .max depending on the project. Textures are delivered at agreed resolutions in PNG or TGA. Engine-specific formats (Unity packages, Unreal content packages) are available on request.
Can you texture assets we’ve already modelled?+
Yes. Texturing-only engagements are common, we receive your clean UV-unwrapped mesh and deliver a full PBR texture set. We’ll need clean UVs with no overlaps and a UV layout document. If the UVs aren’t optimised we can re-unwrap before texturing, just flag this at brief stage.
Do you work with Nanite in Unreal Engine 5?+
Yes. Nanite removes the traditional poly budget ceiling for static meshes on PC and current-gen console. We can deliver Nanite-ready assets with full multi-million polygon detail from ZBrush. For skeletal meshes (animated characters) Nanite doesn’t apply, so we still retopologise and build standard LOD chains for those.
Can you rig and animate 3D characters?+
Yes. Rigging and animation is part of our standard 3D character pipeline. We build full IK/FK rigs, facial blend shape systems, and cloth simulation. For gameplay animation we produce standard state sets (idle, walk, run, attack, hurt, death). For cinematics we work with motion capture data or keyframe animate from scratch to your direction.
How long does a full 3D character take?+
A complete game-ready character, concept through to rigged, textured, LOD’d, and engine-imported, typically takes 4–8 weeks depending on complexity. A simple stylised mobile character takes 2–3 weeks. A detailed realistic PC/console character with facial blend shapes and full animation set takes 8–14 weeks. We’ll scope exactly after reviewing your brief.
Can you create modular environment kits?+
Yes. Modular environment kits are one of our strongest 3D specialisms. We design to your engine’s grid size, produce trim sheets and tileables for texture efficiency, and deliver the full kit with pre-built collision, correct pivot points, and documentation on how the pieces assemble. We test the full kit in-engine before delivery.
